With its flagship applicant tracking product, AppliTrack, being used in over 1,700 school districts throughout the United States, the company is changing its name from General ASP to Aspex Solutions to better reflect its dominant position in the K12 market as a provider of innovative solutions to common K12 HR problems.

"When I started and named General ASP almost 14 years ago, the word 'General' allowed me to be flexible with what our company would offer our clients. "I believe the name, Aspex Solutions, allows us to leverage the recognizable 'ASP' that the K12 market has grown to trust while allowing us to position ourselves as not just providers of a computer software, but as a dynamic solution that can be tailored to meet the needs of each individual client."

In conjunction with the name change, the company also announced that each of its existing products, AppliTrack and Polaris Selection (TeacherFit, JobFit, and AdminFit), will now be branded using the highly recognizable AppliTrack name:

AppliTrack Recruiting is the most popular online recruiting and hiring cloud platform in K12 education. The primary value of this new feature is that you have the ability to access all of your applicants to a specific job posting- i.e., screened applicants, interviewed applicants, released applicants, etc.- from the Find by Vacancy screen.

To use this new update, simple select the vacancy to which the folder should be associated when creating the folder. This will allow your folders for the vacancy to appear under the vacancy in the Find by Vacancy screen.

To learn more about creating folders and Search Folders (folders that allow you to save previous searches), click here.

New Administrative Layout

Finally, you may have noticed that AppliTrack has a bit of a new look. The Administrative side of AppliTrack received a subtle facelift in order to give it look and feel that is consistent with the Applicant side of AppliTrack. Tracking this information in AppliTrack just got easier now that eForms can be connected with job postings. To see the job posting forms in action, edit any job posting and click the Forms tab. You can even design your own forms to be associated with postings by accessing Setup > Edit Forms.

Applicant Forms

When you invite applicants to complete an eForm in AppliTrack, they now will securely login to access and submit information in a new applicant Forms tab. Applicants can easily review all forms that are pending their review and submission. View a short video showing this new feature at: http://www.generalasp.com/olauserdocs/_id.aspx?id=1222

Multi-form Packets

The final eForms enhancement for this week is multi-form delivery. You can now send multiple eForms to a recipient within a single invitation. This eliminates repetitive delivery of forms and makes it possible to package a set of forms being sent to a recipient. For example, you may like to have new hires complete tax forms, review training materials, provide direct deposit information, benefits enrollment, etc. – the entire group of forms can be sent to the applicant in one invitation.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://generalasp.blogspot.com/2010/11/applitrack-version-now-update-11112010.html' title='AppliTrack Version Now! Please read about them below:

Attach a File to an eForm
Let's say that you need to collect Driver's License information for a Bus Driver applicant. As you know, you can create an eForm that can be sent to an applicant asking them to provide information about their Driver's License.

With this latest update, you can now ask applicant's to attach a file, in this case, a copy of their Driver's License to this eForm so that you can not only review the completed eForm, but also review the uploaded document that you have requested of the applicant.

To see a video demonstration of this feature, click here.

Time Zone
Go to Setup-Edit Preferences and choose the correct Time Zone for your district. Today's updates are a direct result of user feedback:

Print All Documents
A new button has been added to the applicant materials page that allows you to print all of an applicant's documents simply by clicking "Print all Documents". Clicking this button will turn the online application, cover letter, transcripts, etc. into one PDF document that can be printed. You will no longer need to open each document and print it separately.

Customize your Applicant Uploads
Now, you may add, remove, and update which documents you want your applicants to upload. Additionally, you may also indicate which of the documents are required prior to submission of an application. Previously, the General ASP TotalSupport Team would have to fill these requests for users.

To learn more about how to use this tool, search the Help system for "Required Materials".

We hope that you find these new enhancements useful!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://generalasp.blogspot.com/2010/05/applitrack-version-now-upgrade-5102010.html' title='AppliTrack Version Now! Today, we are excited to announce that all AppliTrack users can now track "High Need Vacancies" as defined by NCLB.

When you post a new vacancy in AppliTrack, you will see the option to identify the specific vacancy as being a "High Need" vacancy. You will also see the definition of "High Need" vacancies next to this this option.

Job seekers will then be able to search K12JobSpot.com for positions in "High Needs" schools by job type, location, or district. If your vacancy is marked as "High Need", it will be indicated to applicants.

The Race to the Top Grant program relies heavily upon the recruitment of Highly Qualified and/or National Board Certified teachers to High Need schools. We are glad that AppliTrack and K12JobSpot now assist in meeting this objective.

For more information, please contact the AppliTrack TotalSupport Team at support@generalasp.com.

AppliTrack is Tracking National Board Certified Applicants

National Board Certification Status
AppliTrack has been enhanced to collect an applicant's National Board Certification status so that you may very quickly and easily identify those applicants to your school district who have received this prestigious distinction.

When reviewing applicants, simply add the column called "NBCT" (National Board Certified Teacher) and you can quickly view who has this certification. provides information and research to connect teachers with jobs and school districts with qualified teachers.

This partnership exists to provide school districts across the country with immediate access to recent or soon-to-be college and university graduates who are looking for employment in education. Additionally, this partnership will provide college or university members of AAEE the opportunity to electronically send their education graduates' credentials to any of nearly 1,000 school districts who use AppliTrack to manage their online employment application process.

AppliTrack school districts will benefit from this partnership as their ability to have immediate access to recent college and university graduates will spare them the expense of recruiting educators to their school districts through more traditional means. School district administrators will be able to easily sort, filter, and identify those graduates who most meet the qualifications that they require for employment in their school systems.

Colleges and universities will benefit from this partnership also as their graduates will be able to view vacancies, apply for them and have their application materials sent to school districts instantly through an online Career Placement Center Education Job Board that will be provided to each AAEE college or university member, free of charge, by General ASP.

"We are living in a world of immediacy where information is obtained and communicated instantly and easily. We have the technological capacity and the professional opportunity to align traditional teacher recruitment and placement processes with today's lifestyle in a way that will benefit everyone in the educational community," said Abe Reese, President and Founder of General ASP.

"Information travels at an unprecedented rate in today's technology era. With timely information and resources, school districts and educators can provide 'staffing excellence for the world of education.' This partnership will help meet that goal," said Neil Shnider, Executive Director, AAEE.

The Northern Illinois University Career Placement Office will be the first university to participate in this initiative beginning in August 2009, with other users set to begin in late fall 2009.

About General ASP:
General ASP is a technology company built by education and sustained through innovation. Founded in 1998 by Abe Reese, General ASP has been designing web-based software that is easy-to-use and completely affordable. As a company, we understand the power of systems and have put processes in place that allow us to complete support and customization requests faster and at a lower cost than any other vendor. Our savings are offered back to our users.

Training
AppliTrack was designed to allow administrators to quickly discover how to use its features, basic and advanced, with little to no training. However, we include two-hours of web-based training in all subscriptions. Of course, you may desire more training or onsite training. We are not going to require you to commit to any additional training as part of your service agreement with us. If you want additional training, we are confident that you will let us know but we will certainly not obligate you to a financial commitment to training beyond what is included in your price. Less than 2% of AppliTrack school districts purchased additional training from General ASP last year!

Implementation
Because we’ve implemented AppliTrack in so many school districts, there is literally nothing that we haven’t seen. We can anticipate district requirements and implement district specific customizations in a much speedier fashion than other applicant tracking systems.

Our Technology
Why is Google so great? Their developers, like our developers, write software that allows Google to run more efficiently and cost-effectively than any other search engine. AppliTrack is built the same way. Our programmers make extensive use of caching which results in your ability to access your applicants immediately upon request. Other applicant tracking systems throw hardware and money at a programming error, while we use our skills and experience.

Fairness
Look around. iPhone Apps, websites, games, etc...the list goes on. Software is becoming more and more “free” and the movement is to actually NOT charge for software. Our low prices are a reflection of the times. Do we want to make money, yes? However, we also want to reduce the financial burdens that school districts face. For example, if a school district requests a new feature that we know would benefit others; we will develop that feature and release it to everyone at no charge because we will use it as a competitive advantage over other applicant tracking systems. We don’t appreciate how other applicant tracking vendors charge such exorbitant fees for what we know to be such simple tasks.

AppliTrack is Stable
AppliTrack has been serving school districts for over 10 years and is a stable and mature product. It does not require a team of engineers to hover over errors and malfunctions that may be present with other applicant tracking systems. AppliTrack’s stability saves General ASP money and we pass the savings along to our users.

Marketing Advantage
General ASP is a for-profit company that is interested in building long-term relationships with our customers. Because AppliTrack presents a school district with a very low financial risk, we find our standard rates to be a competitive advantage. Most importantly, we know that a low price means very little if the product and the service are not impeccable. School districts may initially look at us because of our prices, but they stay with us because of our product and our service. Therefore, when you purchase AppliTrack, you will be provided with the following:

1) A Support Center that actually allows you to easily speak with a human! When you call the Support Center, your call will be answered by an experienced member of our Support Team. And, when you call our Support Center, you're not just speaking with someone we've trained, you're speaking with a member of the AppliTrack development team. Imagine being able to call Bill Gates and his lead developers every time your computer crashed! Well, everyone including General ASP President, Abe Reese, is here and capable of helping you!

2) Our sales staff is dedicated to providing you with every piece of information and guidance that you'll need in order to make the best decision for your organization.
